From October 2020 to February 28, 2021, the KEX Kids Fund helped 118 children with comprehensive vision exams and provided 118 vouchers for new eyeglasses for families in need.
Because of covid and schools not completely reopened, there was a decline of requests. In early March, we started to see more requests for help with vision care. The number of requests will increase as more schools return to in person instruction and school nurses are able to refer more students.
School nurses work closely with the school vision screening program led by the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation to ensure that children who are referred for vision care receive resources such as the KEX Kids Fund.
School nurses are grateful for the resources provided by the KEX Kids Fund. This program helps children see and learn to their potential.
