Veterinary Care and Food for Loreto Stray Dogs

Stray Paws Loreto is a non-profit organization dedicated to provide veterinary care and feeding stray dogs in Loreto, our mission is to improve the welfare of stray dogs and promote responsible pet ownership in the comunity our Key Activities:

1. Veterinary Care:

During the last three months, Stray Paws Loreto supported veterinary care through local veterinary clinics to provide medical attention and treatment to the stray dogs. Services offered included vaccinations, deworming, flea and tick treatments, spaying, neutering, and other necessary medical interventions.

1. Emergency Medical Cases:

In the last three months, we encountered several emergency cases where stray dogs were injured or suffered from severe health conditions. Stray Paws Loreto promptly responded to these cases, providing immediate medical care, surgical interventions, and post-operative recovery support.

1. Feeding Program:

To address the issue of hunger and malnutrition among the stray dog population, Stray Paws Loreto . We distributed food to stray dogs through a small network of local foster homes, ensuring that they receive sustenance on a regular basis.

1. Community Outreach:

Educating the local community about responsible pet ownership and the importance of animal welfare remains a core focus for Stray Paws Loreto. Over the last three months, we have had meetings to design and implement in the near future along local authorities on awareness campaigns and workshops to engage with residents, schools. These efforts aimed to foster a sense of compassion for stray animals and discourage animal abandonment.

1. Adoption and Foster Care:

Stray Paws Loreto actively encouraged adoption and foster care for stray dogs. Through partnerships with animal shelters and caring individuals, we successfully rehomed several dogs, providing them with safe and loving forever homes, althoug we recognize that much more needs to be done.

Achievements:

1. Medical Care:

   • 45 spaying and neutering surgeries to control the stray dog population.
   • Administered vaccinations and other necessary treatments to improve overall health.

2. Emergency Cases:

   • Treated 5 emergency medical cases, including injuries and illnesses.

3. Feeding Program:

   • Provided food to more than 25 stray dogs regularly.

4. Community Outreach:

   • Currently working with Local authorities on a plan and a Canine commitee involving diferent organizations in the community to launch awareness campaigns and workshops.
   • Received positive feedback from local authorities and residents for our efforts.

5. Adoption and Foster Care:

   • Facilitated the adoption of 15 dogs into loving homes.
   • Placed 20 dogs into foster care for further rehabilitation.

Challenges:

1. Resource Constraints:

   • Limited funding impacted our ability to expand our reach and help more stray dogs.
   • Shortage of volunteers sometimes led to a heavier workload for the existing team.

2. Community Attitudes:

   • Despite our outreach efforts, some community members remained indifferent to stray dog welfare.
   • The need for continuous education and awareness in the community persists.

Through our veterinary care and feeding programs, as well as community outreach efforts, we have made a positive impact on the local stray dog population. Despite challenges, we remain committed to our mission and look forward to expanding our reach and impact in the future.
