On June 24, 2026, twin earthquakes (M7.2 and M7.5) devastated La Guaira, Caracas, and surrounding Venezuelan communities, killing an estimated 50,000 people and displacing more. Damaged infrastructure has cut off safe drinking water for many families already coping with destroyed homes and disrupted lives. This project delivers urgently needed water systems to affected communities and provides essential support to children and families navigating the aftermath, helping them access clean water.
Twin earthquakes (M7.2 and M7.5) struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026, killing nearly 1,000 people and displacing tens of thousands. In hard-hit areas like La Guaira and Caracas, damaged pipelines and power outages have cut off safe drinking water for many families. Without intervention, contaminated or scarce water raises the risk of cholera, typhoid, and other waterborne illnesses - especially dangerous for children in a country whose healthcare system was already severely strained.
Educare Now will install 6 field-proven water purification systems in earthquake-affected communities, each capable of providing safe, chlorinated drinking water to up to 1,000 people. We'll deliver hygiene kits and water-storage containers to displaced families, train local volunteers to operate and maintain the systems, and ensure shelters and neighborhoods in La Guaira and Caracas have reliable access to clean water throughout the emergency and early recovery period.
Beyond emergency relief, the water systems we install remain in place long after the immediate crisis, continuing to serve communities for years at a cost of about $1 per person annually. Local volunteers trained through this project will sustain operations independently. By restoring reliable clean water access, we help reduce long-term disease burden, ease pressure on Venezuela's healthcare system, and give displaced families a more stable foundation as they rebuild their homes and lives.
