Hello VE friends!
We are very happy and excited because on January 2, 11 new volunteers joined our team here at VE Global! The team now have representatives from USA, UEA, UK, China, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands and Chile. We are growing!
Volunteers and interns have since their arrival participated in two weeks of dynamic training. The training provided necessary tools to become positive role models for the children that they are going to work with, as well as getting accustomed in their new home, Santiago.
The training consisted of conversations, lectures and many participatory activities to understand how VE Global operates regarding areas such as; fundraising, relationship with the government and private sector. The training also included sessions about Chilean culture, food and language. In addition to the more educative sessions, some games were included, to maintain a good atmosphere and to create unity in the group.
On Monday January 8, volunteers had the opportunity to meet the five organizations that they will work with. They are excited to start working with children!
The final day of the training, Thursday January 12, culminated in a conversation about the commitment to VE and in the evening, a small gathering to relax and enjoy the efforts made during the weeks together.
In short, the two weeks gave a great opportunity for the volunteers to get to know each other, VE Global and the city of Santiago.
We have to stress the immense work done during the trainings by the previous volunteers, los antiguos, - the lunches were delicious! Thank you!
Love from Santiago!
