Right now in VE we are looking at some very big changes. We almost have our library up and running with our new software. This will be great when it comes time for Vamos a Leer this year, a much easier way to find books and to see what we have, I hope the kids are as excited about this as we are! We have also added some new books to our library to help increase interest in reading among the children we work with.
This past May we did not receive any new volunteers. But this is not a sad time, this is an exciting time for us. We are in the process of evaluating our programs and making them better for the children that we serve. We have just finished printing our latest survey for the kids, because their voice is important to us. Research can say 1000´s of things that kids need, but we need to narrow this number down to the things that they both need and want. We decided to talk to the kids. This will help us make sure that we are growing in a way that is beneficial to all. This change will drive us for the years to come. We are eager to finish this process so that we can get back into the swing of things in September with new volunteers.
Stay tuned for more updates soon as we begin to prepare for our new volunteer class!
