As we approach the end of an inspiring year, we are delighted to share the remarkable progress made at BCT school. Each activity reflects our commitment to empower rural children, nurture talent, and foster inclusive growth, a work that is made possible through the support of partners like you. Here are a few highlights from the past few months
1. Empowering Every Child: Celebrations with Purpose
World Disability Day: A Celebration of Ability
At the Sri PV Venkatesan Center for the Challenged, students joyfully celebrated the International Day for People with Disabilities through sports and games, affirming our belief that every child thrives when given opportunity and encouragement.
Children’s Day: Gifts That Spark Curiosity
Our children were all smiles to receive the thoughtful gifts from Feeding India. These creative learning kits made Children’s Day extra special. The gifts included puzzles, sticker sets, and interactive games, delighting young learners at BCT Residential High School (RHS) and fuelling their love for discovery.
2. Recognizing Achievement: Students Who Inspire Us
Scholarships for Excellence
Our students are a constant source of pride, and their achievements in both academics and extra-curriculars bring us great joy. Seven school students were selected by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Vizag to receive merit scholarships. The visit of JCI team members to campus underscored the value of our work and the promise our children hold when opportunities meet determination.
Cultural and Academic Excellence
It was a time of academic celebrations as the tenth-grade passout students received their marksheets and skill certificates. As they recounted their school memories, experiences and goals, it was heartening to see them blossom. We wish them the very best for their future!
What began as an effort by BCT to revive dying folk arts by training school children in it, has brought back so much color and culture back to life. School students regularly perform the folk arts at various events, and showcased their dance at the prestigious Enterprising Bharat event in Vizag as well. Here they performed traditional folk dances of kolatam and tappetagullu.
Our students also participated and won accolades in various competitions. They took part in the Bhagavad Gita Sloka Chanting Competition by Chinmaya Mission. Multiple students secured top honors, proving that confidence and discipline go hand in hand at BCT.
3. Strengthening Partnerships: Visits That Inspire Collaboration
Feeding India Leadership Visits RHS
Ms. Sushma Emmadi, Program Manager at Feeding India, visited the BCT school campus to witness firsthand how daily nutrition supports learning. BCT Secretary Sri B Sri Ram Murty elaborated on the highlights of the program and its impact on students. Discussions focused on expanding collaboration and introducing innovative solutions like a facial-recognition attendance system for beneficiaries. The visit concluded with a symbolic sapling plantation—a pledge toward a greener, healthier future.
International Exchange with Indonesian Delegates
A delegation from Indonesia, accompanied by design expert Mr. P.N. Satish, engaged with our students to explore spinning and weaving traditions. The exchange was a powerful reminder that BCT’s grassroots innovations resonate globally.
4. Community Engagement: Students Leading Change
Training to be change agents for their villages, BCT school students stepped beyond the classroom and into the nearby villages of Shekalipalem, Addao, and Narendra Puram. Here they performed cultural shows and skits on water conservation and cleanliness. Their efforts were warmly acknowledged by village elders, reinforcing the role of schools as catalysts of social transformation.
5. Innovation & Future-Ready Learning
Launch of the Innovation Hub
Independence Day saw the inauguration of the RHS Innovation Hub by MLA Sudarapu Vijay Kumar. His encouragement to blend robotics with traditional Etikoppaka toys opened new horizons for creativity. Donors and well-wishers participated, reaffirming the shared dream of nurturing young innovators.
Atal Tinkering Lab Registration
With guidance from industry mentors, BCT School joined the HamaraLabs Atal Tinkering Labs ecosystem. Students are now routinely submitting projects, gaining hands-on exposure to science, engineering, and creative problem-solving.
6. Skills, Dignity & Livelihood: Learning That Earns
Self-Reliance Through Tailoring
In a remarkable display of learning-in-action, 164 students received school uniforms stitched by the students themselves under the Tailoring Vocational Training program. This not only provided essential clothing but also instilled immense pride and confidence.
Empowering Specially-Abled Students
At the Sri PV Venkatesan Center, specially-abled students acquired tailoring and micro-entrepreneurship skills. Starting from the basics of tailoring to joining parts and finally better finishing and business skills, students are taught everything. This year alone, six students stitched school uniforms, earning a collective 16,670. This amount was distributed to them based on individual contribution, turning skill building into direct income and self-worth.
A Year of Impact—And the Road Ahead
From scholarships and innovation to skill development and international exposure, the year has shown us one thing clearly: when children are nurtured with care, opportunities, and the right environment, they flourish.
As we scale our efforts, partnerships with donors play a pivotal role. Your support helps us reach more children, strengthen vocational training, enhance innovation labs, and deepen community impact.
Together, we can transform many more young lives in the coming year.
