100% Results in 10th Boards

Last week brought in some exciting news for the BCT Residential High school. We are thrilled to share that 27 students appeared for their 10th board exams this year, and all of them passed with flying colors. M. Chandini, emerged as the school topper with 522/600 marks. Hailing from an extremely poor family, she couldn’t have afforded this basic education. However, BCT supported her with a 100% scholarship, and enabled her dreams with wings. G Syamala, another bright student from the school, scored 100/100 in Maths! Two specially-abled students Poorna Sai & Nagendra from BCTs Sri PV Venkatesan Center for the Challenged also wrote the board exams & passed with good grades. Also, 2nd and 3rd places were bagged by CH Dhanalakshmi and Hemeswari, who got scores of 494 and 491. A happy and proud moment for the school indeed. A large part of the credit for this achievement goes to the School Principal, teachers & staff who made it possible. Working with these students, who hail from financially weaker segments or are denied admissions at regular schools, doesn’t make the task an easy one. But yet, despite all odds, our students have made us proud!

Sankranti celebrations

2024’s gaiety for us began with Sankranti, an important harvest festival of Andhra Pradesh. As farmers harvest their crop, celebrations are held through song, dance and colorful festivities. While the actual festival was on January 15, BCT school students marked Sankranti sambaralu on January 11, before their festival vacations. A huge Bhogi bonfire was set at the school grounds, with gobemmalu and colourful muggulu surrounding it to add the auspicious touch. BCT Secretary Sri B Sri Ram Murty lit the fire, as students, teachers, staff and family members all performed folk dances around the bonfire. A rangoli competition was also held, where both students and teachers participated.

Village animation skill development

Speaking on a social issue in front of a crowd requires confidence and skill, and BCT has been enabling students on this front through village animation activities. Students thus received training under ‘Grama prerana’ on folk dances which they performed at villages from January 6th.

Republic Day gaiety

Republic Day was marked with colorful celebrations at BCT Residential High School. The event began with the unfurling of the national flag by BCT Secretary Sri B Sri Ram Murty. He was accompanied with the youngest students of the school. This important ceremony was followed by taking a pledge and a beautiful cultural display by the school students. Displaying immense talent in song, dance and play, our students showcased their creativity and confidence.

Regular parent meetings & volunteer visits

In order to keep parents in the loop on what their ward is learning, regular parent teacher meetings are conducted. On January 12, as students started to leave for their homes for Sankranti vacations, a meeting was held with the parents. The team addressed the gathering, and highlighted the students achievements and progress. Various volunteers and student groups also visited our premises. Ms. Lalitha Ramani, Google Maps Head India, Japan & Brazil, visited the BCT Residential High School with her daughter Anvitha on 8th April, and spent a week with the children on campus. Both of them helped students with exam preparations and also taught them new mind and logic games.

Holistic education for students

Being aware of the world around them is an important part of the education BCT imparts. 15 school students visited BCT KVK centre on 13th March. Here, they saw the home science lab, vermicompost production unit and also made a farm visit. This visit aimed to make the young impressionable minds understand about balanced food and know its relationship with agriculture. Students were accompanied by Smt. Satyavati and Sri Nishit during this visit. BCT KVK Scientist Head Smt. Sailaja, BCT KVK scientists and farm manager, made the students visit a memorable one. Students are also in the process of making educational videos on various aspects. They also showcased Andhra's folk dance performances at 'Enterprising Bharat', an event curated to bridge the rural-urban divide.

With the first few months of 2024 done right, here’s looking forward to a great second half too. As the summer heat is increasing in intensity, children are busy with academics, cultural celebrations, skill education and much more. They will soon start learning folk arts through summer classes, a process that keeps them rooted to their culture while enabling them with a deep understanding of modern life as well. Through all this, the focus continues to be on creating a group of conscientious future citizens, who are an active part of adding to their communities, building their villages and empowering their nation.
