The year 2025 has brought with it a flurry of activities at the school. From academics to vocational skills, animation and more, it has been a busy time. Visits from dignitaries have been encouraging. All have appreciated the model of education being followed and the rural-centric approach that has been employed. Along with preparations for Board exams, other programs have been ongoing as well. Here are a few of the developments at our end.
Focus on Academics
It was a busy time for our students, especially those in tenth grade, as their preparations for board exams began in full earnest. In order to support their preparations, the school provided them with study material that would make their final revisions easier for them. The students also received the support of their teachers in preparing for their exams. Along with the tenth graders, students from other classes, including specially abled students have been focusing on their academics as well.
Focus on Health
Regular health camps are also being held to monitor the welfare of students. A team of doctors led by Yi Chairperson Dr. Sravani conducted a health camp where children could share about their health issues and get the required medication. This health camp was well received by all, and generated timely care for the children.
Vijaya Homam for students
Literally translating to mean ‘Prayer for victory’ Vijaya Homam is conducted every year right before the tenth board exams. This year too, the Vijaya homam was held for students appearing for tenth grade examinations. The puja was held on March 9, and 502 students attended. This included tenth graders from BCT Residential high school, along with tenth graders from the nearby villages attended the event. Held at the Sri Dwimukha Kalyana Vinayaka Swami temple in BCT campus, prayers were offered so that students are blessed with the divine energies and pass with good marks.
Food for thought for our young students
A healthy body leads to a healthy mind and a healthy life! Zomato initiative, Feeding India has been providing four healthy meals for the students of BCT Residential High Schools everyday. The food support partnership, which has been ongoing since the last year, has enabled nutritious food and snacks for our students on a regular basis. In this regard, Mr. Anish Menon, Program Manager at Feeding India, visited the BCT Residential High School campus on March 5. During his visit, he interacted with students, mess staff, and school faculty, He also toured the school campus, followed by a thoughtful discussion with BCT Secretary Mr. B Sri Ram Murty, Mr. Sitaramaraju, and Mr. Nishit.
Special classes
As the students stay rooted to their culture and country through trainings on folk arts and sessions on the Indian constitution, they are also being encouraged to reach out for the stars. Classes on astronomy are on, and students along with their teacher are using a telescope to understand the space around them. Special classes have also been held for students on other aspects such as natural farming, to enable them to better understand its importance for their health.
Team members from the Woman safety wing , Anakapalli Dist. Police team visited the BCT Residential High school on 30th December. They met the students and held discussions on the topics of child marriages, growing cyber crimes, POCSO Act and other aspects of protecting the society.
Innovation hub & speech therapy sessions
Encouraging our young students is the new Innovation Hub that has been set up at the school premises in February. This laboratory has been amply equipped to enable students to get creative, explore ideas and build projects. Besides that, speech therapy sessions have been going on at the Sri PV Venkateswara Center for the Challenged. Audio-visual media are being used to teach the specially abled students a wide range of subjects as well. The response for these has been very good.
Festivities and celebrations
Local festivals are an integral part of our cultural fabric, and at BCT Residential High School we take extra measures to celebrate it. The year 2025 began with Sankranti celebrations and 26th January was celebrated in a grand manner at the BCT Residential High School too with the unfurling of the flag. March brought with it the festival of Ugadi or the Telugu new year. Students welcomed the new year and. BCT Secretary Sri B Sri Ram wished the team the very best for a prosperous new year.
Focus on charkha spinning
Spinning the charkha has been an essential skill for all students, which makes BCT schools one of the very few in India that teach this to their students. Focus on charkha spinning continues, and students are now receiving training to get better quality yarn has been ongoing. Experts in the line such as Mr. Satish from Kora Initiative have been working closely with the students to improve their skills and enhance their understanding about its importance.
With these and many more activities, students at the school are encouraged to learn and develop themselves holistically. Along with academics, vocational skills and animation skills enable them to become better citizens who can think and work for not only their welfare, but for the welfare of their communities as well.
