Summary

Transformation of society through education is the DNA of UWC Costa Rica. We bring together 210 teens of 70+ nationalities and across the socio-economic spectrum to live, dream, and learn together for two years in a unique immersive and holistic educational experience grounded on experiential learning. Here they build bridges, visibilizing interconnections to generate new, collaborative ways of thinking to take action towards a more peaceful and sustainable future.

Challenge

The current state of the planet is one of Climate Crisis. With global temperatures rising, depleting natural resources, biodiversity loss, and high levels of pollution. We need to take collective action NOW. A sustainable future requires a shift in our perspectives. It requires a conversation about the very basis on which our cultures are built. We need to ask ourselves: How do we create a culture of sustainability?

Solution

At UWC Costa Rica, we believe that change starts by empowering young agents of change hungry for a deep socio-cultural transformation. Our campus is a laboratory where our students' idealism is nurtured by an educational model that encourages them to put ideas into action by promoting a systemic and holistic view of the world. One that emphasizes reciprocity, care, social justice, nature, education, impact, community, diversity, and the responsible use of resources.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term impact of UWC Costa Rica lives in our 1,310 alumni and our 210 students, and the thousands of people they inspire. Resilient global citizens who are comfortable stepping outside of their comfort zones to build bridges through empathy, community, respect, and integrity. Furthermore, we are working to share our transformative educational model with hundreds of students and educators in Costa Rica, Latin America, and the world to scale our impact. Will you join us?
