Every week, girls from surrounding rural communities gather at Nourish Eco Village for the Ubuntu Girls Club, where they take part in Ubuntu Yoga sessions designed to strengthen both body and mind. Rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu—"I am because we are"—these classes create a safe and supportive space where girls can build confidence, resilience, and healthy habits together.
During recent sessions, the girls practiced a variety of yoga postures that improved their balance, flexibility, strength, and concentration. They also ended each class with guided breathing and meditation, helping them develop emotional awareness and manage stress in healthy ways.
Many of these young girls have limited access to wellness activities in their communities. Through the Ubuntu Yoga Project, they are discovering that caring for their physical and mental wellbeing is an important part of reaching their full potential. The sessions also encourage teamwork, self-belief, discipline, and respect for one another—values that extend beyond the yoga mat into their daily lives.
Our vision goes far beyond weekly classes. We continue to train women from local communities to become certified Ubuntu Yoga instructors, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities while ensuring that more children and families can benefit from free community yoga. Income generated through yoga experiences for visitors and tourists will help sustain these community programmes for years to come.
Your support is helping us create healthier communities, empower local women with valuable skills, and inspire the next generation of girls to grow into confident, compassionate leaders.
Thank you for making this journey possible.
