Ubuntu: A South African word that means "I am because we are". This project creates African flavoured yoga and takes it to the rural communities. Strong local African women candidates are being identified to become certified yoga instructors. Our aim is to build our Ubuntu Yoga pavilion, where we will teach regular yoga classes to the school children area, as well as to the staff, tourists and backpackers at Nourish Eco Village. This will bring in money to help make the project sustainable.
Limited opportunities for livelihoods and education and access to wellness practices in communities in rural South Africa.
We offer the opportunity for women from rural impoverished communities to train as Ubuntu Yoga Instructors and massage therapists. We will work with local lodges to offer the Ubuntu Yoga and traditional massage experiences to their guests. This will allow our teachers and therapists to receive some benefit from the tourist dollars flowing into our beautiful area just outside Kruger National Park. In return for our support, they will offer free classes at schools and their local communities.
The long term impact of the Ubuntu Yoga Project is its ability to promote well being and create livelihoods in rural South Africa
