During October, a series of talks were held in two cities in Uruguay to create awareness about child sexual exploitation. Officers from the Ministry of Tourism, together with representatives from Youth For Christ/Claves travelled to the cities of Salto and Fray Bentos to talk about public policies to prevent child sexual exploitation, as well as to present the experience with the "Uruguay against child sexual exploitation" campaign.
Talks were given to community referents and to high school students. Many questions were answered about the current legal framework regarding child sexual exploitation and about ways to report these situations.
These awareness talks to high school students are particularly important as a way to empower them and help them talk and report these situations, whether it's happening to them or to someone they know.
After these talks, students were eager to get involved in the campaign. In fact, many of them will participate in the next campaign activities.
