This project will restore safe learning conditions at the school for 234 pupils, by re-roofing the two-classroom blocks deroofed by a windstorm on 23rd September 2025. The pupil classroom ratio is 1:160, this means there's no free space, roofing this block will ensure continuous, safe, and conducive education for all affected pupils. Ediofe Primary School was founded in 1923 by the Comboni Missionaries, led by Rev. Fr. Wright Tee. There're 1682 pupils enrolled in the school.
A windstorm on 23 September 2025 deroofed a two-classroom block at Ediofe Primary School, leaving 234 pupils exposed to rain, heat, and unsafe learning conditions. P6 and P7 now study under a tree, with one boys' class reaching a 1:160 ratio. Lessons are disrupted, learning is interrupted, and safety risks have increased. Without urgent re-roofing, pupils' well-being and academic performance will continue to decline. With limited capitation grants from the government, this will delay more years.
This project will re-roof the damaged two-classroom block using durable, wind-resistant materials. Restoring these classrooms will protect 234 pupils from harsh weather, ensure uninterrupted learning, improve attendance and concentration, and provide a safe, secure environment for their education. With additional funding, five more schools whose classroom roofs were destroyed by windstorms will also receive support, extending safety and learning opportunities to even more children.
Re-roofing the two classroom blocks will provide safe, durable learning spaces, improve student attendance and performance, reduce future weather-related damage, strengthen school resilience, and support quality education for current and future generations at Ediofe Primary School.
