Actua is Canada's leading science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) outreach organization, preparing youth with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Through a national network of over 40 universities and colleges, Actua engages youth, educators, parents, and communities across Canada in barrier-free, high-impact STEM learning that expands opportunity and helps build a more innovative, inclusive, and prosperous Canada.
Canada's future economic prosperity, innovation, and social well-being depend on a STEM-literate and STEM-skilled population, yet millions of Canadian youth lack early and consistent access to quality STEM learning. Geographic, socioeconomic, and systemic barriers continue to limit many young people's opportunities to build the confidence, skills, and aspirations needed to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Actua is building a Canada where every child has the skills and confidence to reach their full potential. Through hands-on STEM learning, we engage youth from early childhood through high school, with specialized programs for Indigenous youth, girls and young women, Black youth, youth with disabilities, youth facing socioeconomic barriers, and youth in rural, remote, and northern communities. We also equip educators, parents, and caregivers to support STEM learning.
Each year, Actua engages more than 500,000 youth, educators, parents, and caregivers across Canada. By strengthening STEM confidence, identity, and skills, our programs expand education and career pathways, prepare young people for an increasingly technology-enabled world, and help build a more innovative, inclusive, and resilient Canada.
