UWC Costa Rica provides a unique opportunity for 200 young people aged 16-19 from 68+ countries to live, learn and serve on the school's campus in Costa Rica. The school is part of a global, experiential education movement that selects students irrespective of race, socioeconomic background, religion or politics with the explicit aim of fostering peace, international understanding and a sustainable future. 75% of all UWC-Costa Rica students are on full or partial scholarships.
Diversity is at the core of UWC Costa Rica educational model. We believe that In order to fulfill our mission we need students from all different socioeconomic backgrounds so that we may defy the socio-economic polarization that rules so many regions of our world. Money and resources to host students that need to be fully or partially funded is our top priority. We strongly believe money should not stop a student to have the opportunity of receiving a world-class education.
75% of our students have either a full or partial scholarship, guaranteeing a variety of socioeconomic classes in our student body that enriches learning for everyone. Our intentionally diverse rich learning environment allows our students to feel safe and supported to discover, question, and explore their own backgrounds and experiences as well as those of others. While working hard for their IB Diploma, they develop empathy, critical thinking, problem solving and leadership abilities.
Once our students graduate, they form part of a network of 65,000 graduates worldwide, among which are outstanding scientists, politicians, entrepreneurs, artists, and highly original agents of change. Supporting United World College Costa Rica is support integration, supporting the training of world leaders, supporting Latin America, supporting youth.
