Our local partners & communities in Ukraine are already facing dire challenges and life threatening situation. SmartAID is urgently appealing to raise US$250,000 to help make sure that these shelters, hospitals and communities can access electricity and heating to survive the harsh winter and escalation of the war.
Eight months into the war in Ukraine, the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) has risen again to 6.9 million people a with most of the IDPs live in communal shelters like schools, and dormitories across Ukraine. The looming winter months concern many Ukrainians who feel the effects of the war, as cities continue to be attacked, leaving thousands of them without electricity and central heating as winter begins. The outages across Ukraine is causing also significant internet disruptions
SmartAID have mapped the needs to start its' 'OUT OF THE COLD' winterization program which is well under way & offers solar generators, power banks, battery chargers, generators of various sizes & other utilities to handle shortage of electricity during the days and nights. The basic necessity of access to electricity for service providers as for refugees is considered priority 1 as it serves health facilities, shelters, kitchens which feed people & more. SmartAID focuses on filling this gap.
The long term impact is that with each unit that we install solar panels can be added and the duration of usage can be for over a decade. Reducing cost of electricity and dependence on fuel.
