We will be holding our last caregivers workshop for this season on 23rd October. Now that missile and drone attacks are increasing to such an alarming extent, it is harder for caregivers to come to the clinic. We are therefore prioritising our mobile services for the short-term, and will ensure that family members get the best possible advice during homecare visits. The caregivers workshops have been highly valued by carers and have helped the team to reach more families in need. We plan to restart them as soon as possible.
Patient story:
Olena was feeling desperate when her husband had become paralysed due to a spinal tumour and was spending a lot of time in bed. His pain was well controlled but he was developing a bed sore and she was hurting her back trying to turn him during the night. She attended a caregivers workshop at the clinic and using a dummy, nurse Ksenjia showed her how to turn him using a method with sheets under him to make a smoother process. During her visit to the clinic to attend the workshop she also met the wife of another patient who happend to lived in the next apartment block. They struck up a friendship and have been able to support each other during a difficult time.
