Dear friends,
Despite the Ukraine war fading from the headlines, the invasion continues. The past six months have been highly challenging for Ukrainians, and your generosity allowed us to provide help where it is needed most. This project has received an outpouring of support that has enabled us to not only offer one-off help but allowed us to better plan to be able to provide ongoing support to children living in specialised institutions.
We are happy to report that, this time, we have provided help worth UAH 136 420 (USD 4663.15) to three institutions:
- We purchased a lawn mower worth UAH 4500 and 2 freezers for long-term food storage worth UAH 33000 for an orphanage that is home to more than 130 children with disabilities that were rejected by their parents.
- We equipped a physical therapy room for a specialised educational institution in Zhytomyr Oblast. Sixty-three children with physical and intellectual disabilities aged 7 to 17 reside and study there. The institution provides education, social assistance and rehabilitation and prepares children for an independent life. Special education ensures students' with disabilities needs are met, and physical therapy is an integral part of the process. But sadly, due to insufficient state funding, the physical therapy room was dismal as the only few pieces of sports equipment there were either damaged or outdated. We purchased sports equipment worth UAH 65380 at the request of the institution's administration. Now children can exercise and improve their health and well-being!
- We purchased a water pump worth UAH 33540 to provide water in showers, washrooms and toilets in an institution located in Zhytomyr Oblast. Seventy-seven children with physical and developmental disabilities reside and study there.
While the state’s priorities have shifted to finance the needs caused by the war, orphanages are being heavily underfunded. As every child, children living in orphanages deserve care and support; they deserve to have decent living and studying conditions, and we can't thank you enough for being there for them in this critical time! As usual, we will keep you informed of this project's progress by sharing an update.
Your help is making a difference. Please check out our projects on GlobalGiving if you wish to continue supporting Ukrainian children through Bright Kids Charity.
Our grassroots charity wants to thank everyone for your support and for donating to Bright Kids as your way to stand with Ukraine!
Warm regards,
Natalie Blinder
