It is because of you that 24 orphans in northern Uganda have been able to complete or continue their education! We cannot thank you enough to have helped sponsor and ensure that these children could attend school and change the course of their lives! Without your support these children would only know a life of poverty. You are giving them an opportunity through education to help themselves climb as high as possible and change the course of their future to help themselves, their family and community.
Sebastian was 11 years old when we met at his village. His grandmother was caring for her eight grandchildren, after their parents were killed in the LRA War. Sebastian demonstrated his brilliance in 2009 by creating a radio from junk parts. It was then that the U-TOUCH team knew it was imperative to sponsor Sebastian, one of the grandchildren to attend schoo. Over the next years Sebastian maintainied his place as the top-ranking student in school. After scoring the highest in the region on a national exam in Form Four (Grade 10) he was invited to attend the top school in the country. He is again scoring top in his class. Sebastian is just one of the eight sponsored students who shares a personal story and appreciation of the sponsorship you have provided.
“My name is Sebastian and I was born during the insurgency in northern Uganda. During this period the activity was at its peak. As a result I lost my father when I was just a three-month old baby. I cannot remember my father up to now, because, all the photos in our house were burned by the rebels. I was remaining with my mother, only when I reached four years old my mother was also captured and was given the same punishment as my father. After that occasion life was very hard since, the elder in my family was my sister. She was the head of the family since all our other relatives were killed. Luckily we had an aunt who was living in an urban center and came to take us with her. From there we were given an education though when I reached Primary Six in 2009, life became hard again. My aunt ran a shortage of money to continue supporting our education. In the second term, U-TOUCH thankfully came in to support us in school.
I love my studies so much that when I am at school I have to do my very best and excel in my examinations. I am in Form Five (11th grade) per remaining only one year to join my University. I have a very big dream to achieve; to become a bio-medical engineer, of which there are few or none in my country. That is the main reason I am in need of studying at a University in the United States. After my studies, my first salary will be given out to fund other students and after I will begin my own fundraising projects to support students like U-TOUCH did for us. I love U-TOUCH so much and I am proud because of YOU.”
Sebastian is grateful, as well as all the sponsored students for your kind generosity. He is working hard and to help him acheive his dream, U-TOUCH provided Sebastian a laptop, August 2015, for his studies. Please continue to support U-TOUCH to help Sebastian attain his goal of completing his education and giving back to his country and the world.
