This project will provide the continuing education for 8 orphans in northern Uganda who have been sponsored by U-TOUCH since 2006. These sponsored students are extremely responsible and dedicated. They are performing at a high level academically at the top of their classes and on nationwide exams. U-TOUCH sponsored students have access to the U-TOUCH Technology Innovation Hub. They are graduating universities, gaining employment and these students wish to study medicine, engineering & business
Northern Uganda suffers from abject poverty and horrific loss following the 20-year LRA War. As a result of losing their parents in the war orphans are unable to attend school due to the lack of necessary funds to pay the tuition fees. U-TOUCH has sponsored the education of these orphans since 2006 and they want to continue attending school top schools to achieve a better future. They are yearning for knowledge and and an education to become leaders and help their communities & country
The direct impact of the project is that these eight children will continue attending excellent schools this school year. They will have the opportunity to learn computer skills including access to the Internet for communication and research for their academic studies. The students will be assured of a high quality education to work toward their future goals and aspirations. In addition to tuition fees, their other school requirements and supplies will be provided.
The long term impact of the project is these orphans will ultimately complete their university education with a high level academic performance to achieve their desired future goals and professions. They want give back to their community and country in their varied fields of interest. The long-term impact to the community will be a skilled, knowledgeable, role models for the next generation while they help advance their communities with the expertise they have gained through their education.
