Non +ve children of HIV/AIDS patients are often deprived of their right to education and food. This project gives financial aid to the children so that they receive better nutrition and education.
By end of 2005, India had 5.7 million HIV cases as against 5.5 in Africa (2006 Report on Global AIDS Epidemic). The infected parents lose their livelihood source because of the disease, leaving them with few options for survival. In most cases, the support comes for the infected parents while the non +ve children are unattended and not cared for. Thus, the children are often deprived of their basic nutrition and education. This project supports these children for nutrition & education.
This project financially supports HIV/AIDS affected children for their nutrition and education. The project also carries out workshops on confidence building for the children, psychological support, counseling and livelihood options for the parents.
• Infected parents and 60 affected children will deal with the strain of HIV/AIDS and allchildren will complete education. • Infected parents will be self-assured of the future of their children, thus gaining strength & hope in life.
