Udayan Care is a trusted non-profit organization committed to empowering vulnerable children, youth, and women by making young lives shine. Anchored in family strengthening as its core philosophy, Udayan Care works to ensure that every individual grows up in a safe, nurturing environment that fosters dignity and self-reliance. 

With operations across 18 states and 45 cities in India, Udayan Care runs diverse, impact-driven programs delivered under 3 key work verticals - child protection and alternative care, education, skilling and employability, and advocacy, research and training

Within this mission, the Udayan Shalini Fellowship (USF) program focuses on the education and holistic development of deserving girls from underprivileged backgrounds. Established in 2002 in Delhi with 72 fellows, the program has now supported over 20,300 girls across 38 chapters in 15 states. USF offers more than financial aid—it builds confidence, leadership, and a sense of social responsibility through regular mentoring, life-skill workshops, and community engagement.

Program Highlights (April–June 2026)

Over the past three months, Shalinis engaged in diverse activities aimed at enhancing their academic, professional, and personal development.

• Employability Workshops: Over 214 Shalinis participated in workshops covering communication (positive and verbal), IT skills for job searching, CV preparation, and workplace readiness — including problem-solving and conflict management. These sessions strengthened participants' confidence, practical skills, and preparedness for academic and career opportunities ahead.
• Small Group Workshops: Around 205 fellows took part in focused sessions on career guidance, mindfulness, and a Yoga Day celebration. These sessions built greater clarity about future goals alongside techniques for focus, stress management, and overall well-being.
• Quarterly Workshop & Mentor Sessions: A large-scale workshop on "Growth Mindset & Unlocking Your Potential" brought together 120 participants, helping them build self-awareness, resilience, and goal-setting skills. Discussions on perseverance and continuous learning strengthened confidence and self-belief among Shalinis.
• Mentor–Mentee Engagement: Mentorship remained a core strength of the program, with 768 sessions conducted by 59 mentors, supporting 251 mentees. These sessions provided personalized guidance on academics, career planning, and personal challenges, strengthening confidence and clarity among Shalinis.
• Community Service ('Paying It Forward'): Over 250 Shalinis contributed meaningfully to society through awareness campaigns and rallies, social drives (blood donation, vaccination), cleanliness initiatives, teaching underprivileged children, tree plantation, animal welfare volunteering, and NGO/old-age-home engagement — fostering empathy, leadership, and civic responsibility.
• Additional Events: Shalinis gained real-world exposure through Mother's Day celebration, and a corporate visit to Deloitte. These experiences-built confidence, communication skills, and professional awareness ahead of future academic and career opportunities.

Inspiring Story – Aarti (Name Changed)

Aarti is currently pursuing B.Sc. (Hons.) Electronics from a NIRF Rank 5 college of the University of Delhi. As a Udayan Shalini Fellow, she embodies the values of discipline, dedication, hard work, and smart work, striving to build a successful career in technology.

Coming from a lower-income family, Aarti faced financial challenges, but the mentorship, life-skills training, and corporate exposure provided by USF motivated her to dream bigger and become financially independent. The fellowship gave her the confidence to believe that she could work in leading multinational companies.

Alongside her studies, Aarti was invited by various companies to contribute at national-level technical exhibitions as a Technical Support and Relationship Executive where she gained valuable industry exposure. She is currently working as an AI Application Developer Intern at EY (Ernst & Young) and has also received an internship offer through the Infosys Springboard Internship Program.
