Udayan Care is a trusted non-profit organization committed to empowering vulnerable children, youth, and women by making young lives shine. Anchored in family strengthening as its core philosophy, Udayan Care works to ensure that every individual grows up in a safe, nurturing environment that fosters dignity and self-reliance.

With operations across 17 states and 44 cities in India, Udayan Care runs diverse, impact-driven programs delivered under 3 key work verticals - child protection and alternative care, education, skilling and employability, and advocacy, research and training

Together, with committed individuals and institutions, Udayan Care continues to champion the right of every child and youth to a life of opportunity, protection, and belonging.

Within this mission, the Udayan Shalini Fellowship (USF) program focuses on the education and holistic development of deserving girls from underprivileged backgrounds. Established in 2002 in Delhi with 72 fellows, the program has now supported over 18,500 girls across 38 chapters in 15 states. USF offers more than financial aid—it builds confidence, leadership, and a sense of social responsibility through regular mentoring, life-skill workshops, and community engagement.

Program Highlights (January–March 2026)

Over the past three months, Shalinis engaged in diverse activities aimed at enhancing their academic, professional, and personal development.

  • Employability Workshops: More than 260 Shalinis participated in workshops covering topics such as career exploration, goal setting, emotional intelligence, financial management, workplace readiness, and women’s rights. These sessions enhanced communication, problem-solving, and adaptability skills, preparing them for future careers.
  • Small Group Workshops: Around 340 fellows engaged in focused sessions on email writing, board exam preparation, climate action, and health awareness. These interactive workshops encouraged critical thinking, confidence-building, and practical learning experiences.
  • Quarterly Workshop & Mentor Sessions: A large-scale workshop on “Finding Your Voice” brought together over 170 participants, helping them build self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and communication skills. Activities such as group discussions and role-play enhanced confidence and decision-making abilities.
  • Mentor–Mentee Engagement: Mentorship remained a core strength of the program, with 963 sessions conducted by 65 mentors, supporting 332 mentees. These sessions provided personalized guidance on academics, career planning, and personal challenges, strengthening confidence and clarity among Shalinis.
  • Community Service (‘Paying It Forward’): Shalinis contributed meaningfully to society through initiatives such as awareness campaigns, cleanliness drives, teaching underprivileged children, tree plantation, and volunteering with NGOs, fostering empathy, leadership, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
  • Additional Events: Shalinis gained real-world exposure through corporate visits (including EY and Coforge), mentor meets, and the Alumnae Meet. These experiences provided insights into workplace culture, career pathways, and professional expectations, helping them become more industry ready.

Inspiring Story – Jyoti (Name Changed)

Jyoti journey is a compelling example of how talent, discipline, and the right support can lead to exceptional achievement. Today, she is on the path to becoming a Chartered Accountant, having cleared the CA Foundation examination in her very first attempt in January 2026 with an impressive score of 242 marks. Prior to this, she completed her Class 12 in Commerce with 92%, securing 98 marks in Accountancy and ranking first in her school—clear indicators of her academic excellence and unwavering focus.

This success has not only transformed Jyoti’s own life but is also creating a meaningful impact within her family. As she progresses toward a professional career, she is easing the financial pressure on her household and emerging as a strong role model for her family members. Her achievements have brought a renewed sense of hope and aspiration, demonstrating that even the most ambitious goals are within reach with the right support.

This progress has been made possible through the support of the Udayan Shalini Fellowship (USF) and its donors. Through financial assistance, mentorship, and life-skills training, USF enabled jyoti to pursue one of the most demanding professional paths without the burden of financial stress.

Coming from a economically disadvantaged background, She faced financial constraints that could have limited her educational aspirations. The path to becoming a Chartered Accountant requires significant resources and guidance—both of which once felt out of reach. However, with resilience and determination, and with the support of USF, she was able to overcome these barriers. She has also actively participated in chapter workshops, consistently demonstrating the values of perseverance and excellence.

Today, Jyoti stands at the beginning of a promising professional journey, fully committed to completing her Chartered Accountant qualification and building a successful, independent career while uplifting her family’s future.

Reflecting on her journey, Jyoti shares, “Udayan Shalini Fellowship gave me the opportunity and support to dream big and achieve my goals. The guidance, mentorship, and opportunities I received through this program have shaped my confidence and purpose.”

Her story highlights the transformative impact of timely support and serves as a reminder that when young women are empowered with the right opportunities, they uplift not only themselves but their families and communities as well.
