Udayan Shalini Fellowships
Aditi Walia our success story of this quarter. Thank you for joining hands with us to help Aditi dream big in her life! You made it possible!
Aditi is a simple, confident and determined girl, who is living in Adhon village of Kurukshetra.
Aditi’s family consists of one sister and a brother. Her father being a daily wage earner hardly earns Rs.2000 per month. With this irregular and meager income her father is struggling to support the family. To supplement the family’s need her mother also took up job of a helper in nearby school. To add to the woes her father met with an accident and now undergoing treatment for the last 4 months and he is almost bed ridden Hence, things are very difficult for Aditi’s mother to look after the basic needs of the family.
In such situation, though academically brilliant but she had left with no option other than to leave studies and taken up a part time job. So it was almost impossible for Aditi to fulfill her dreams and to support her family by taking up a good profession. But with the support of Udayan Shalini Fellowship Programme at present she is not only able to continue with her studies along with financial and mentoring support but also fulfilling some basic needs of her family also.
She says "Our financial condition is so worse. I am very lucky that to get Udayan Shalini Fellowship. I am pursuing graduation from University College otherwise I would not have been able to continue my education after+2. Now my family need not to worry about my education as Udayan Shalini is helping and supporting me. I am so grateful to Udayan Shalini fellowship Programme who is giving fellowship to the girls like me”. Besides aiming to be a civil servant, she is also trying to become a singer. She had participated in all singing competition at state level, district level and blocks level and had won number of prizes.
She has completed her 10th grade with 84% and 12th grade with 85%. She ia pursuing her Bachelor's in Commerce in her 2nd year in University College of Kurukshetra and wants to pursue MBA after completing her graduation. She has joined NSS in her college and always takes part in social activities. She is very regular in USF workshops and implementing the learning from these workshops.
Aditi expressed her heartfelt thanks towards USF programme and her donors like you because without whom she and her family would not have been in a better standard of living considering the difficulties being faced by her family.
