I. Executive Summary

Need of the topic:

1)     Till now environmental topic was not taken up.

2)     As an assertive & contributing future citizen of this country our fellows need to know about it.

3)     Through peer awareness a large of people could be educated.

4)     This is the only occasion where such a large number of fellows could be addressed.

Outcome:

• Fellows got to know about Global Warming in a detailed way.
• Audio Visual clippings facilitated the learning an interesting one.
• Fellows are empowered about dos & don’ts hence in the social campaign they will be able to take effective participation.
• By generating awareness for one fellow ultimately one house hold is reached. As fellows will work as peer educators.
• Fellows were highly motivated to see ordinary people attaining extra ordinary feat.

B. Residential Camp at Greater Noida from 6^th June to 11^th June for the fellows of Delhi.

The factors of organizing this camp are as follows:

1. Residential camp promotes active learning through direct personal experience and offers excitement, fun and adventure within a frame work of safety, which enabling them to be successful leaders of tomorrow.
2. The purposeful use of leisure time is increasingly seen as making an important contribution to an accomplished leader.
3. Challenging experience of outdoors impacts powerfully upon a young person’s intellectual, physical, spiritual, social and moral development, which ultimately judges their on the spot decision making ability.
4. It empowers young individual to facing up challenges so that they overcome fears and apprehensions along the way.
5. Participation in exciting and enjoyable outdoor activities with youth worker and peers reinforce a positive attitude to education and contributes significantly to the general ethos of a group.
6. Tomorrow’s successful citizens will possess the adaptability to cope with a rapidly changing world of work and the responsibility to be a contributing member of a society.

Outcome of the activity:-

• Got an experience of practical challenges of living outside which otherwise which would not have been possible with their respective family.
• Through sharing, by involving in practical situations, by leading a group, all the fellows got an opportunity to enhance their analytical thought process.
• Various platforms & situations boost up their confidence level.
• Enhanced their understanding about cross cultural diversity.
• Got an opportunity as well as a platform to interact with people from different back ground. This in turn, facilitated to have them wider solutions to their respective problems.
• Through different real life like situations fellows were required to solve various problems as well as to give their decisions on the spot. This facilitated to enhance their leadership qualities and personality.
• Sharing of each other’s success stories increased their awareness related to women empowerment.
• Through the tough schedule & vibrant programs/activities made them to be an assertive person. This helps them to be a contributing member of the society.
• Last but not least the whole process facilitated to learn with fun.

   C.    Alumnae meet on way forward in Delhi on 23.06.12

   Purpose of the meet :

1)     To start a formal body of alumnae.

2)     Selection/election of office bearer.

3)     Reaching out to more Alumnae.

4)     Bigger association with the USF activities.

Outcomes:

1)     Office bearers are selected to go for election.

2)     Alumna’s involvement in the USF’s activities for the next quarter decided.

3)     Next quarter’s activities are planned.

D. Small Group workshops on Communication Skills on 01/04/12, 06/05/12 & 03/06/12.

Across most disciplines and industries, communication skills are listed as the top skills required by employers. Well-developed communications skills are a must, not only for getting hired and future job advancement, but for almost every aspect of day-to-day communication in any career. Besides in the last quarterly workshop in April, a number of fellows expressed their desire to have workshops on professional advancement specially how to face an interview and to improve personality. Keeping all these in mind this topic on Communication Skill is selected.

The topics covered in the workshop:

1)     What is communication and communication skills?

2)     Communications goals.

3)     Most common ways to communicate.

4)     Types of communication.

5)     Barriers to communication.

6)     Communication process.

7)     Communication code scheme.

8)     Components of communication.

9)     What makes a good communication?

10)  How to develop the communication skill and exploring the related field.

11)  Tips to good communication skills.

Outcome:

a)     Importance of communication skill in terms of communication process.

b)     How to prevent distorted messages.

c)     How to make communication an effective one.

E. Disbursement of fellowship: A scheduled instalment was disbursed in the month of June ’12.

We reached out to 2070 girl fellows, out of which 50 fellows touched through your support and all are still continuing with the fellowships in Delhi.

Exact figures cannot be derived, but these girls are attending various educational institutes/neighborhood, an average size of the family is 5. All of them are sensitizing about the child rights and girl’s education.

V. Enablers and Challengers

 1.     Limitations/Constraints/External factors that stopped you from achieving the desired results:

 All the fellows can’t take participation in the camp as special coaching classes are being organized by various coaching centers and schools during that time period

2.   Strengths/Enablers that helped you achieve more than you had planned :

  Association of group of professionals with the programme is bringing a new aspect in the professional development of the fellows.

Gradual involvement of Alumna in the conduction of workshops is also motivating the existing fellows to prepare training module for workshops on their own.

Fellows coming on their own to donate towards the programme.Is reflecting the fulfillment of programme’s objective of giving back to the society.
