Dear Reader

Happy New Year 2019!

This year we hope to become happier in the moments we live, rather than complaining and whining about what's bad with the world, we become less miserable & pitiful about us and our lives, instead do what we can to bring in change bit by bit. This time when I sat down to write about the impactful journey of the young adults, their progress, ups and downs, their life's phases of which you have been an indisposable part, I want to tell you about how they have grown as strong-minded beings with a sense of gratefulness, compassion, and clarity on what they want with life.

As this month's report may I share with you, the direct voices of the young boys & girls as they reflect upon their times spent in Rainbow Homes Program, the good, the not so good and their dreams.

Afreen: I would have continued as the bonded servant had I not reached Rainbow home. This is more than my parents. I got back my childhood freedom here and am fulfilling all my dreams along with education.

Geetha Eragadintla: Experienced poverty and homelessness half of my childhood, but I’ve changed the nightmare by unlocking the door of good learnings, values at Rainbow home. I am on a mission to Educate myself to reduce poverty, will educate my family is to eradicate poverty.

Sravani Gangapuram: Hope; I am now full of hopes. I was left with no clue when I lost my parents and is like a bird without wings. Rainbow home changed and created new wings with great confidence. Now I can pick up our books and pencils. They are my most powerful tools to change my fate.

Mamatha Sundara: We may not compete with international standards of education but we can create a good world with good values which I’ve learnt at rainbow homes. the only aim is to live with dignity and live to the fullest of your individual life.

Aharoan Kankanala: I always believe in change, it is possible only by educating children with good values and knowledge. I’ve witnessed the same in Rainbow homes; doing a great job over the years and happy to continue my journey with great people here. Teaching children is a way to change the world.

Tulasi, now in B.Sc (Nursing) 1st Year: Coming to this Home has taught me to be disciplined and know the importance of Education. When I came to the Home in 2008, I never went to School and did not know anything about school or education. But since I joined here I have developed interest and want to study well which otherwise I would have missed had I not joined here.

SK. Gousiya Mumthaz, now in B.Sc (MZC) 1st year: I joined the Home in the year 2010 and after Primary schooling from Govt. School, Musheerabad completed my SSC from KGBV. With the help of donors/supporters, I could study Intermediate and now in Graduation. This Home has not only given me shelter, timely food, education but also trained me in various other aspects like extra-curricular activities, life skill, social awareness and how to lead an independent life once we step out of the Home.

K. Shireesha, B.Tech 3rd Year: I am studying now because of this Home and have decided to give back to the Home in whatever way I can once I become an Electrical Engineer. Whatever I have learnt today is because of the Rainbow Home and as colours of Rainbow, all of us stay happily like a big family.

G. Keerthi, B.Sc (Clinical Nutrition) 1st Year: The team here has helped me in recognizing my talents and to perfect them. I gained social awareness, clubs and committees at the have made me learn to be responsible, time management, teamwork, discipline, communication, creative skills and presentation which will help me to become successful in life. I thank God for making me part of the Rainbow Home family.

S. Kumar, Intermediate 2nd Year: I don’t want to follow the great people because I want to become a great person. I did not bring anything to Snehghar but before going I want to give something which can be useful, a helping hand and bring a change. I never think I don’t have a family as God has given me another big family. Here I have not only got the education but education with values.

M. Shankar, 10 years, 5th class: I am happy here as I have a proper place to stay and get good food. Earlier I used to stay with my family under the flyover and work collecting plastic and papers from the roads and lanes, without any time food or cleanliness. Now I have learnt to brush and take bath daily and wear neat clothes. With the help of donors, I am studying at Oxford Grammar School, an English Medium school.

R. Venkatesh, 10th class: Though I was enrolled in a Govt. school by my father I would never attend and go along with my father to stitch bags and with that little money, get to eat once in a day. But this Home has helped me to study and with help of donors, I studied in Vikas Concept School and now in VijayawadaHigh School. These schools have helped in developing my talent in art and craft work, and wall paintings and participated in many competitions and won a prize at Vijaywada District level competitions. Help, guidance and motivation at Home as well as in these school have helped me and I feel very happy.

Sherley: Being a drop out in 2nd class, I never thought I would be in a position to pursue my 10th class in a regular mode. I rediscovered myself in this home in terms of education and enjoyment and got the fullest freedom to play and enjoy blossoming all my mental faculties.

Shaheen: Had it not been for this home, I would have continued as maidservant without education. My home means more than parents to me.

G. Divya: The home is everything to me. If I had not joined in the home, I would have undergone child marriage, Education would have been a far off dream for me and I would have continued as a maidservant living a miserable life.

Yamini: After coming home, I got to know about the world. Now in six months, I am going to be a graduate. Had it not been for home, I would have continued as agricultural labour. My aim is to focus on education till I achieved my goal as a bank manager which will help me able to stand on my own feet- N.Yamini

Srikanya: I got the love, care and protection in the home. I felt this as my home and this is equal to my parents and filled my gap of not having parents.

Ayesha: I have mother only. This home filled the gap of my father and I feel complete with both parents now.

Bhavaani: I have seen my mother struggling to provide us with basic needs and education. My only way to break my barriers is to work hard towards my goal. I enjoyed being in ASRITHA Rainbow home, which shaped my life whether it’s extracurricular activities, values and towards my education. I want to be the role model to other children.

Mr Jampanna of Ashray: Home has shown me a clear path.. Now I am focused on my goal of becoming a policeman and participated in Tennicoit nationals. Otherwise, I would have been in my parental profession of rag picking and undergone child marriage.

Payal: I am Payal age 14yrs class 9th, I was a missing child referred by RPF at my age of 7 years. My Home team complained to RPF area Police Station, notified in New paper and on TV but no one came forward for me. Hence this Home as my own Home and the staff are my parents and relatives. I like Kho-Kho very much and also play Volleyball. I also learnt Kuchipudi here. I want to become a Police Officer and help children like me.

Umera: My name is Umera age 18yrs working as Beautician and preparing for Open 10th. My mother passed away and father did not take care of me. I was on the street along with my brother,.Thishomee has shown me a way forward to my life by providing education and skill. I want to start my own Beauty Parlour.

Rajitha: Myself Rajitha was Orphaned at the age of 5 years. I completed 12th and now learning DTP and Tailoring. I want to join graduation next year and want to become a Bank Officer. Singing is my passion. I have a huge family now and so many Akka’s (Sister’s) to take care of me and putting all their efforts in fulfilling our Dreams and Goals.
