While most of the children we work with do not attend school, there are a few who started in our program who are now attending school. We learned early on that most parents are unable to help their children with their homework as they never received a formal education themselves.
As we visit each of the markets, one volunteer or staff member spends time tutoring the children who are attending school. We help them with their homework and reviewing concepts that are difficult for the child. Our goal is to give these children a better future, and some are on their way! We want to ensure they have the help they need so they continue to attend school.
Funding from our generous donors paritially goes towards funding school supplies for these children. We want them to have to skills and tools they need to receive an education and give back to Ecuador. Most of these children would not have the opportunity to go to school or receive school supplies otherwise.
We thank everyone who has contributed to making UBECI run, we are starting to see the impact it has made.
