By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friend,
Warmest greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project providing low-cost sanitation and food security to poor families affected by Typhoon Mangkhut. Typhoon Mangkhut is one of the strongest typhoon to affect the Philippines this year and it has wrought much destruction to large areas in Cagayan Province. Our team conducted ocular inspection and meetings with municipal and barrio officials in Baggao, Cagayan and in Rizal, Kalinga. In our preliminary visits, we found out that aside from sanitation, food security is very much needed especially in Baggao, Cagayan because most of their corn and vegetable crops were destroyed by the typhoon. National and provincial governments has provided support but they are not enough. This reporting period, we were able to provide 720 farmers with vegetable seed packets and organic fertizer and repaired a total of 110 latrines. The septic tanks of latrines are made of concrete and are not easily broken and what is needed is to repair the superstructure.
Thank you very much for your generous support to this initiative.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
