By Elmer Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings for the Holiday Season and thank you for your support to our project providing food security here in Leyte. The need is still great and as we wind-up this year's implementation we are happy to mention that we are one among the few Philippine-based organizations that have stayed and continue to provide relevant service to the communities. We have already established a permanent office and training center here in Leyte with the training center supported by a school club based in Malaysia. We are upbeat for next year and our move is to deploy local survivors as trainers. Shown here in the photo is one of the survivors training others how to make organic fertilizer using farm waste and indigenous microorganisms. In so doing, we help ensure sustainability and the retention of local knowledge in the area. Since last month, where we train locals to be "barefoot garden technicians", 4 of them have already shared their knowledge to the community in small training sessions.
Again, thank you very much and again, Happy Holidays to you, to your family and friends.
Very truly yours,
Elmer
