Typhoon Carina (International Code: Gaemi) wrought havoc and devastation to many communities along its path. Massive flooding hits communities in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon. We are responding together with local partners with immediate needs comprising hygiene supplies, water and food. On the long-term we will focus on supporting hardest-hit communities with our signature vegetable gardening support.
Typhoon Carina barrels across large areas in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon wrecking havoc and destruction. Dams overflowed and livelihoods were affected. Water, sanitation, hygiene and food supply is affected. Relief and rehabilitation is very much needed and the spread of the problem is vast needing help from all.
We are responding by mobilizing local partners and volunteers in the affected areas and distribute much-needed supplies comprising hygiene supplies, water and sanitation provision and vegetable gardening support for badly affected communities.
The potential long-term impact of our initiative will be communities that quickly recovered and resilient amidst devastating effects of typhoons whose occurrence is fast becoming regular with climate change and the warming of the planet. Home gardening and utilizing local materials and available spaces help ensure food supply for very poor communities affected by the typhoon.
