Refugee children and their families in Nablus, Palestine, have been hit hard by the impact of COVID-19. Most families have lost their only source of income and aren't able to put food on the table. We are delivering food, medicine and basic supplies to as many at-risk families as possible, and have transitioned to an online education curriculum to provide quality, distance learning resources that refugee children can access from home.
Long-term conflict and restricted movement have led to poverty, underdevelopment and a mental health crisis in Nablus, particularly for its 50,000+ refugees who already live without a safety net for difficult times. COVID-19 has left this population particularly vulnerable, as many families have lost all sources of income and are struggling to feed their children. This project will fund food and critical supplies to sustain refugee families in Nablus during and after the pandemic.
TYO is providing ongoing deliveries of healthy food, medicine and essentials to families in the refugee camps of Nablus who live in poverty and lack food. We're continuing to provide families with individualized mental health support over the phone and critical information on health, nutrition and hygiene, and launched a creative, online education curriculum for children to continue learning at home. With psychosocial support and enough food, children can keep learning, playing and creating.
Now more than ever, it is critically important that children have access to quality education and a full, nutritious diet. With your help, we can ensure that Palestinian refugee children are adequately fed, are able to continue learning, and are supported psychosocially throughout the coronavirus pandemic and its aftermath. We know that raising the quality of life and education of each child will ensure a brighter future for their families and the community as a whole.
