Project Progress During the Reporting Period

By Johannes Shikuloh | Project Leader

The Two Trees for Every Household initiative continued to empower vulnerable adolescent girls and young women by promoting long-term economic independence through fruit tree cultivation. The project is based on the principle that providing each household with two fruit trees can contribute to a more secure future for children by improving household nutrition and creating sustainable income opportunities.
During this reporting period, 20 households were reached and each received two fruit tree seedlings. Beneficiaries also received training on proper tree planting, care, and maintenance to improve survival rates and maximize future benefits.
Our volunteer team conducted regular community mobilization and monitoring visits. Each household is monitored every three months to assess tree growth, identify challenges, and provide technical guidance where needed. Households that successfully care for their first two trees become eligible to receive an additional two trees of the same variety.
After six months of successful management, beneficiaries are recommended to receive two more fruit trees of a different variety, increasing both household nutrition and future income potential. This phased approach continues until each participating household has received up to 10 fruit trees, creating a sustainable source of food, income, and resilience.
By investing in vulnerable girls and young women through fruit tree production, the project is helping build self-reliance, reduce poverty, improve food security, and strengthen their ability to provide for their children and families in the future.
You can also include a short Results at a Glance section with:
Households reached: 20
Fruit tree seedlings distributed: 40
Girls and young women supported: 20 households
Monitoring visits conducted: Quarterly (every three months)
Long-term target: Up to 10 fruit trees per household through phased support.
