A Child's Dream

By Abby Gathoni & Sharon Kranja | Communication Assistant, HR & Admin

Hopeful
Hopeful

Many children in Kibera live carrying with them many of life's burdens, oftentimes too heavy
for a young child of any age to be thinking about, hoping that tomorrow will be better than
today. Education becomes a rare commodity that only a few can afford to even think about
indulging in.

At The Fountain of Hope School, we aim to bridge that gap by providing quality education to
the children we serve, regardless of their background. Our teachers work around the clock
with numerous activities that help the children grow holistically, with the courage to push
forward and face every challenge with faith and trust that God always has a plan for
everyone.

'It is so clear to see how impactful and important this school is to every child that attends,
just by seeing them come into the school and leave,' words from our security guard, John,
recount how much of a difference it is.

'Watching them leave is like watching a whole new person. The children look hopeful,
energised, and happy, unlike when they come in looking troubled and worried about a lot.'
He recounts a memory of Steve, a young boy who always seemed to be deep in thought on
his way to school but looked relieved and with life on his cheeks after a whole day in school.

The work we do aims to see more children around Kibera experience what a normal life is
because we believe that quality education is a necessity for all children, and poverty should
never be a hindrance to receiving it. Your support continues to make all this a reality;
without you, we would not be able to have as many success stories as we have.
Thank you!
