The project will fund a Joint Advocacy Summit between Armenia and Turkey to abate the historical tensions between the two societies, while developing solutions to issues affecting their countries.
For nearly a century, the relationships between Turkey and Armenia have remained obstructed by historical enmities, misunderstandings and political confrontations. Though political leaders have recently shown a willingness to move forward, change is not likely take hold unless the people can overcome long-held prejudices and stereotypes. Mending the historical rift between the Armenians and the Turks requires more than just top-down protocol, but face to face engagement to solve common problems.
This project will provide an opportunity for discourse, problem-solving, and opening channels of dialogue through a Joint Advocacy Summit for Turkish and Armenian representatives, emphasizing and encouraging engagement among future youth leaders.
This project will reinforce values of tolerance & reconciliation among youth and civil society leaders while promoting cooperation and cross-border dialogue and facilitating discussion of policies affecting both Turkish and Armenian civil society.
