Tumaini means hope in Kiswahili. This new academy is an initiative of Silent Heroes Board Member Dr. John Kioko, an environmentalist and elephant ecologist. Dr. Kioko built the academy from the ground up in order to fill the need of education, and to provide more opportunities for Kenya's youth to learn about, and participate in, environmental custodianship. By investing in Kenya's youth you are contributing to the next generation of innovative and conscious conservationists. Be the change!
For many Kenyan students there is a lack of environmental education, and few opportunities exist for hands-on interaction with nature.
Our mission is to provide: a quality learning environment; a focus on holistic student development; evidence-based learning; mentorship and community engagement; educational opportunities for orphans; and ultimately inspiration and training for the next generation of conservationists in Kenya.
We aim to foster Kenya's next generation of environmental stewards by creating a learning environment that is conducive to fostering a greater understanding of the importance of environmental and wildlife conservation. We believe that humans are an integral part of the ecosystem, and suffuse the curriculum with this 'One Health' philosophy.
