Gratitude for a wonderful year

Hello TB Photovoice family,

As the year comes to a close, we wish to acknowledge your kindness and generosity. Your support for TB Photovoice has been instrumental in our continuing dedication to raising the voices of persons impacted by tuberculosis. Last Saturday, December 1, was World AIDS Day. Our TB Photovoice home office in Washington state collaborated in a World AIDS Day march and commemorative event in the city of Everett. We exhibited photos associated with the Nuestra Casa Initiative, an extension project of TB Photovoice groups along the U.S.-Mexico border. We shared the photos by Photographer Damien Schumann which highlighted the personal perspective of persons impacted both by HIV and TB. A very powerful experience for all those who attended. In early 2011, TB Photovoice was contacted by the Indus Hospital Research Center in Karachi, Pakistan. They were interested in receiving technical support to implement a TB photovoice project in their city. Our trainer Eva Moya provided excellent guidance and their project was a big success! They called their project "Tasweer-e-Zindagi" (tasweer is picture/photograph and zindagi is life) and this newly released video is a fantastic representation of their tremendous work! We are looking forward to new possibilities in 2013 and hope that you will continue to follow us on Facebook, the TB Photovoice website, or supporting us on GlobalGiving. Planting Seeds and Nurturing our Future

Hello TB Photovoice family,

Thank you all so much for the support throughout the last several months! We know you understand the potential and commitment that TB Photovoice has for those persons impacted by TB around the globe and we appreciate your involvement.

The past couple of months have been filled with the planting of seeds and nurturing our organization to grow----to grow in ways that helps us to become a sustainable resource for communities affected by TB. We were selected to attend and present our organization at the International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC in late July. We introduced TB Photovoice to the thousands of participants by hosting a photo gallery, featuring of our Mexican TB Photovoice groups. We also hosted a booth where viewers were engaged with photos and stories from our South African and Mexican/US border groups. Desiree, a group facilitator from our Cape Town TB Photovoice group, spoke at a breakout session, along with TB Photovoice board members Eva Moya and Teresa Rugg. We all made many connections and are following up with possible collaborations with partners in various countries.

Our TB Photovoice Board is diligently working on identifying resources for the future of our organization and we are all looking forward to continuing our momentum. Only a few more months left in the year, and as we look back at the hard work it takes to create groups and follow up on the many possible partnerships that present themselves, we are so fortunate to have you part of our TB Photovoice community.

Roll 'em! Watch Our New TB Photovoice Video

Hello TB Photovoice fans,

We are part of a Stop TB video contest! Please view our video and help us gain votes by either Liking us on Facebook, tweeting about us on Twitter, or sharing us on LinkedIn.

You can help us make it to the second round of this contest, where the top vote-getters will be reviewed by an expert panel of representatives from the Stop TB Partnership. The winner will be featured heavily in Stop TB Partnership publications, including web and social media. Our video was directed and produced by 14-year old Jamison Baken, of Billings, Montana, and it features many of the works of TB Photovoice groups around the world.

Please help our TB Photovoice video reach your circle of friends!

Next month, we will be sharing our TB Photovoice at the International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012)in Washington D.C., July 22-27. Our TB Photovoice information booth, in the vibrant Global Village area of the conference, will feature an interactive experience for participants in which they will explore the power of a picture and reflect on their personal feelings on TB and HIV issues.

We will also display the TB Photovoice-Nuestra Casa Exhibit with major assistance from SOLUCION TB PCI and the University of Texas at El Paso. This will feature photos associated with the Nuestra Casa Initiative, an extension project of TB Photovoice groups along the U.S.-Mexico border. Photographer Damien Schumann assisted with the project and his photos provide a glimpse into the lives and struggles of ten people who have been touched by tuberculosis or who know someone or have a loved one with the disease.

The Global Village is open to the general public and conference delegates and admission is free. If you happen to be in DC during this time or know of friends in the DC area, please come and join us!
