Growing Roots

By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you for your continued support in advancing our climate resilience initiative through the establishment of community tree nurseries. Across rural communities, the effects of climate change—erratic rainfall, soil degradation, and rising temperatures—are increasingly threatening livelihoods and food security.

During this reporting period, we successfully supported the establishment and expansion of several community-managed tree nurseries. These nurseries are producing a diverse range of indigenous and fruit tree seedlings to restore degraded land, improve soil fertility, and provide sustainable sources of food and income. On average, each nursery is now nurturing thousands of seedlings, with community members actively engaged in daily management and care.

We also conducted hands-on training sessions for local farmers and youth groups, equipping them with skills in seed collection, nursery management, and tree planting techniques. These efforts are empowering communities to take ownership of environmental conservation while creating opportunities for income generation through seedling sales.

One inspiring story comes from a women’s group that has transformed their nursery into a reliable source of income while leading reforestation efforts in their village. Their work is not only restoring the environment but also strengthening community resilience.

Your support has enabled us to provide essential materials such as seeds, tools, watering equipment, and technical guidance. These resources are critical to ensuring the long-term success of the nurseries.

We encourage you to continue supporting this important work. With your partnership, we can expand these nurseries, restore more landscapes, and build stronger, climate-resilient communities.

Thank you for making this impact possible.

With gratitude,
Project Team
