Orphanage Life Savers has seen tremendous support for our "Restore a Truck" Campaign. Although the donations that you provided through Global Giving have only totalled $520.00, they have made an impact! And we believe through your efforts and caring, you have caused many others to donate outside of Global Giving. As of July 09, 2014 our truck is 95% restored and will soon be delivered to OLS in Haiti.
Recently, Jacques Senet, our Founder said "through love, donations and the hours of hard work from our unpaid volunteers, the truck will be driven to Florida and put on a ship to be delivered to our orphanage in Haiti in August, 2014".
This truck will create an income stream that provides greater independence for our orphanage. We will no longer need to be dependent upon outside transportation services to get our kids to and from school, which are expensive. And when used as a taxi (also called a "Tap Tap" in Haiti) it will provide revenue to the orphanage. This revenue will be used to buy food, clothing and supplies and finish the expansion of the building which is so badly needed.
The restoration could not have been brought this far without your support. The additional independence and income it provides for the 6 boys and 6 girls at OLS is key in the evolution and growth of our orphanage. It will allow us to rely less on personal donations and create jobs (our drivers are employed by OLS) in a country where natural job creation simply does not exist.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
