The Nhamacoa Forest in Mozambique is a last refuge for endangered monkeys, antelopes, rare birds and other wildlife struggling to survive as forests disappear. This vital habitat is under constant threat from deforestation and wildfires. Through reforestation and community-led conservation efforts, we are restoring this forest, expanding its area, and ensuring a safe haven for wildlife. Your support will help us plant trees, protect biodiversity, and create a sustainable future.
Mozambique's forests are vanishing at an alarming rate due to charcoal production, illegal logging, and agricultural expansion. Over 30,000 hectares of Miombo forest around Nhamacoa have been lost, leaving wildlife with nowhere to go. The remaining animals-including Samango and Vervet monkeys, bush babies, and rare birds like the Vanga-are overcrowded in small forest patches. Without immediate intervention, this ecosystem and its wildlife will disappear forever.
We are reforesting degraded land, growing indigenous trees, and creating wildlife corridors. Our program includes a tree nursery, tree-planting, and sustainable alternatives for local people to reduce reliance on deforestation. By engaging local communities in reforestation efforts and environmental education, we are fostering long-term stewardship of the forest. With your help, we can restore and expand Nhamacoa, providing a lifeline for wildlife and future generations.
Through this project, the community will learn the importance of protecting the Nhamacoa Forest and its wildlife. By expanding the forest and creating wildlife corridors, we will reduce habitat pressure and help mitigate climate change. The knowledge of sustainable land practices will be passed on to future generations. With your help, we will identify additional areas for reforestation and continue to protect Mozambique's unique ecosystems and support local livelihoods.
