Project Report

By Dr. Khadim Dahot | Managing Director

Dear Supporters,

Thank you once again for your generosity and continued belief in our mission to save the lives of malnourished children in rural Pakistan.

Since our last update, your donations through GlobalGiving have enabled us to continue providing life-saving treatment to children suffering from acute malnutrition. During this reporting period, we received an additional USD 434.11, which has been allocated to procure Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) and support community-based screening, follow-up visits, and nutrition counseling for vulnerable families.

With your support, our community Health House and trained Lady Health Workers have continued identifying children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), ensuring they receive timely treatment and regular growth monitoring. Beyond therapeutic food, caregivers are receiving practical guidance on infant and young child feeding, hygiene, and nutrition practices to help prevent malnutrition from recurring.

Recently, a three-year-old boy from a remote village was referred to our Health House after community screening identified signs of severe wasting. His parents, who depend on seasonal agricultural labor, could not afford transportation or nutritious food. After enrolling in our treatment program, he began receiving RUTF along with weekly health monitoring. Within a few weeks, his appetite improved, he became more active, and his weight started increasing steadily. His mother now confidently prepares nutritious complementary meals using locally available foods and encourages other mothers in her village to seek early treatment for malnutrition.

Your generosity is helping us reach children before it is too late. Every contribution strengthens our ability to identify malnutrition early, provide effective treatment close to home, and educate families so children can grow up healthy and thrive.

On behalf of the children and families we serve, thank you for making this work possible. Together, we are giving vulnerable children a healthier start in life and creating lasting hope for communities across rural Sindh.

With sincere gratitude,

Sewa Development Trust Sindh (SDTS)
