TrashHunter will take action on problematic waste hotspots (such as rivers), aiming to build specific civic engagement to help with a clean environment. We will identify some problematic hotspots across the country. Local TrashHunting advocates will set-up action camps at hotspots, and through actions we will bring attention to citizens, institutions, and media. Raising national awareness about pollution, these actions address the urgent issue while also providing positive progress.
Albania is a beautiful country, but we are trashing it everyday. There is currently a dramatic environmental situation in Albania. Illegal dumpsites, hazardous and medical waste in public spaces, around city centers, rural areas, along rivers and coastline, are affecting the communities in every city of Albania. Trash Culture is having a direct negative impact in public health, better living and in social and economic growth in every sector.
Trash Hunter will activate and engage youth volunteers in environmental causes and act towards concrete actions. Green Line Albania aim to train volunteers and to organise creative CleanUp action in some of the most polluted areas in Tirana. The main goal of the project is to educate and to demonstrate that the environmental situation in our city can change if we start acting together. We intend to initiate a new culture when it comes to cleanup actions, and make this a regular weekly activity.
The project aims to start with the capital city of Albania, Tirana as a pilot project and expand in other mayor cities of Albania starting with the cities near Tirana first. This will make cleaning and protecting the environment a growing culture in the biggest cities of Albania and combining this with the national cleanup action that Green Line Albania has been doing in the last 5 years we believe that will have a larger impact on albanian society.
