Transgender Community need to be mainstreamed

Greetings from NDF Pakistan.

We are pleased to share the progress of our project "Transgender Community Need to Be Mainstreamed", supported through the GlobalGiving platform. This initiative aims to promote the social, economic, and civic inclusion of transgender persons by strengthening their participation in local governance, public services, and community development processes.

Transgender persons in Pakistan often face barriers to education, employment, healthcare, and participation in decision-making. Through this project, NDF Pakistan is working with local communities, government institutions, and transgender leaders to create opportunities for inclusion, dignity, and equal participation.

Project Achievements

During this reporting period, NDF Pakistan:

• Reached 150 transgender persons through awareness, advocacy, and capacity-building activities, number of selected as General Councillors against reserved seats in Local Government as decision-makers.
• Conducted community dialogues on inclusion, rights, and non-discrimination.
• Facilitated meetings between transgender representatives and local government officials.
• Supported transgender individuals in accessing identity documents, social protection programs, and public services.
• Organized leadership and civic participation training sessions.
• Promoted the participation of transgender persons in local development committees and community forums.

Impact on Beneficiaries

The project has contributed to:

• Increased awareness of transgender rights among community members.
• Improved engagement between transgender persons and local authorities.
• Greater participation of transgender individuals in community decision-making.
