October 2026 Project Update: Keeping Maya Women's Voices Visible
Dear Supporters,
Thank you for continuing to believe in our mission to empower Indigenous Maya women and girls in Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula.
This October, we would like to share a small but meaningful step forward for our Maya Women Development Hub.
In September, ICDO organized the 9th edition of Long Nights of Interculturality in Vienna, Austria, bringing together more than 1,200 guests at Vienna City Hall for our Costumes of the World celebration.
Mexico was among the cultures represented at the event, giving us an opportunity to highlight our ongoing work with Indigenous Maya communities and raise awareness of our campaign among an international audience.
For us, this visibility matters. Preserving cultural heritage, celebrating Indigenous identities and creating opportunities for women and girls are closely connected. Every opportunity to share these stories helps us build understanding and encourage new support.
Our work continues, but we still need your help.
While we remain committed to developing the Maya Women Development Hub and seeking additional funding opportunities, donations have been limited, and we have not yet secured the resources needed to move forward with the planned activities.
Our goal remains to support 500 Indigenous Maya women and girls through educational opportunities, practical skills, entrepreneurship and community empowerment.
We know that meaningful change takes time, and we want to be transparent about where we stand. Although progress in fundraising has been slower than we hoped, our commitment to this project remains unchanged.
Your support can help us take the next step.
Whether through a donation or by sharing our campaign with friends, colleagues and networks, you can help us reach more people who believe in creating opportunities for Indigenous women.
Thank you for standing with us and helping keep this important mission alive.
With gratitude,
The ICDO Team
