On Saturday, February 21st, we proudly inaugurated a fully renovated classroom in Tlacuiloltecatl Grande, marking an important milestone in our infrastructure program.
This new learning space was delivered to the Indigenous primary school Escuela Primaria Indígena Nezahualcóyotl, ensuring that its students now have a dignified, well-equipped environment that supports their academic and personal development.
In communities like Tlacuiloltecatl Grande, schools often operate under a multigrade, single-teacher model, where students from 1st through 6th grade share the same classroom under the guidance of one teacher. While this structure reflects the resilience of rural education systems, it also presents significant learning challenges. Providing a properly equipped classroom is therefore not a luxury — it is essential.
The renovated classroom now includes:
A dedicated reading corner with 200 books
A computer to introduce students to digital learning tools
Appropriate desks and furniture to create a functional and dignified learning environment
The inauguration was a deeply moving event for the community. Notably, authorities from both the outgoing and incoming administrations were present, demonstrating that when it comes to education and the future of children, collaboration transcends political transitions. It was a powerful reminder that lasting change is built through shared commitment.
With this classroom completed, we now move forward to our next intervention in Azcuahutlamanca, where we will construct long-overdue sanitation facilities for a preschool that currently lacks proper bathrooms. Access to safe and adequate sanitation is fundamental to ensuring children’s health, safety, and school attendance.
Each completed project strengthens the educational ecosystem of these communities — creating spaces where children can learn with dignity and hope.
Thank you for continuing to build these foundations for the future alongside us.
