Rebuild Earthquake-Damaged School in Rural Nepal

Thanks to your steadfast support, we are planning to break ground at Diyalo's Sewalung School on April 1st. The construction will include:

• four new classrooms, comprising a new standalone school building
• two new bathrooms 
• a school garden

The new facilities will ensure our students are learning in a safe, clean and enriched learning environment.

We have been carefully tracking learning outcomes of each students and are excited to announce that our students are progressing at or above the Nepali national average. This is just the beginning. As we continue to improve our pedagogy, facilities, and staff we expect to see these numbers rise.

Thus far we have raised nearly $2,500 of the required $25,000 to: 

• reconstruct four classrooms damaged in the earthquake
• build restrooms and install running water
• start a school library
• finalize our school's agri-garden
• provide electricity and internet access

The money is being held on the side until we raise the funds needed to begin this project.

Nevertheless, this summer has been eventful for Diyalo as we continue to learn from our partner community in Sewalung.

In August, Co-Founder Surya Karki, Education Director Aditi Adhikari, and our two rockstar interns from Wellesley College, Tanisha Rayamajhi and Katie Hoeflinger, visited Sewalung.

There, they built classroom bookshelves and filled them with books, conducted evaluations, teacher trainings, and worked with parents to ensure quality education continues at home.
