The African Dream Initiative is dedicated to transforming the lives of forgotten children in East Africa. We find bright children living on the edges of society - including refugees, AIDS orphans, former child soldiers, abducted girls, and child laborers - and provide them with long-term, quality education, leadership and critical thinking skills, and other resources they need to become leaders in their communities and beyond. We have newly-admitted students who need your support!
Lack of education is widespread in East Africa, especially among the disadvantaged populations ADI supports. The vast majority of school-age Ugandan children will enroll in primary school; however, 68% will drop out before reaching high school, and only 6.4% will reach University. And yet, education is a crucial driver of poverty reduction and income growth in Ugandan households. According to a 2016 UNESCO report, better education is in fact critical to lifting rural communities out of poverty
ADI provides promising children an opportunity to attend the most prestigious schools in the region, where our students gain the skills and confidence to become leaders. ADI provides our talented and motivated students with the skills, education and resources they need to become leaders in their own communities, creating a cycle of success.
More than 100 students each year will successfully progress through the highest-quality primary, secondary and tertiary education. These students will also develop crucial leadership and critical thinking skills, and become leaders who are able and willing to uplift their families and empower their communities in Uganda and other countries in East Africa.
