Brighter Future for Brighter Minds

The months from February to April 2026 were full of competitions, exhibitions, health drives, and community engagement across both Zindagi Trust schools. This report walks through the highlights school by school.

 

SMB Fatima Jinnah Government Girls School

 

 

— Student Development (Academic) —

Model United Nations (MUN): A Successful Participation

Students of SMB school participated in the Model United Nations conference held at Army Public School & COD, which brought together participants from more than 20 public and private schools across Karachi. A delegation of 11 students from Grades 9 and 10 represented the school across the three-day event, demonstrating confidence, critical thinking, and communication skills while engaging in committees and discussions that reflected the school's commitment to leadership and global awareness.

Creative Recycling Activity – Grade 3

Grade 3 students took part in a creative learning activity, designing and creating useful items from recycled materials and showcasing their innovative work within the school premises. The activity promoted environmental awareness and sustainability among young learners, encouraging them to understand how waste materials can be transformed into useful, meaningful products.

Financial Awareness Session on Kids Accounts by Bank Islami

A financial awareness session conducted by Bank Islami Pakistan Limited introduced students to the concept of Kids Accounts and their role in fostering early financial literacy. Students were guided on the procedure for opening a Kids Account and the benefits of structured financial habits from a young age. The session was attended by 24 students of Grade 7, who actively participated and showed keen interest in the topic.

Participation in Spelling Bee Competition at Aster School

A Spelling Bee Competition organised at Aster School brought together students from several prestigious institutions, including Beaconhouse School System and Karachi Grammar School, among others. Four students from Grades 4 and 5 represented SMB school, showcasing their preparation and command of spellings and vocabulary in a competitive, intellectually stimulating environment that reflected the school's commitment to academic excellence.

Exam Preparation Guidance Session – Grade 8

Grade 8 students attended a guidance session on effective strategies for exam preparation, with emphasis on the importance of strong results, since performance in Grade 8 plays a key role in future studies. The session aimed to motivate students to focus on their studies and understand how academic performance shapes their future pathways.

WM Creative Studio Relab: Architecture for Social Transformation

WM Creative Studio Relab, a multidisciplinary design collective, led a session for senior students on using architecture as a catalyst for social transformation, focused on participatory and inclusive design approaches that respond to community needs and lived experiences. During an engaging activity, students were encouraged to create innovative building designs grounded in the principles of contextual realities, social responsibility, and cultural relevance, exploring how empathy, affordability, and ecological balance shape meaningful spaces.

Career Guidance Session – Matric Students

Matric students attended an informative session on general career guidance, aimed at helping them develop clarity about future goals and career pathways. The session highlighted a range of educational and professional opportunities available after matriculation, encouraging students to reflect on their interests and strengths and begin planning the steps needed to achieve their ambitions.

Preliminary Examinations – Grades 9 and 10

Preliminary Examinations for Grades 9 and 10 were conducted successfully, giving students an opportunity to evaluate their understanding and preparation ahead of the final assessments.

Scout Oath Taking Activity for Girls

Selected students participating in the school's Scout activities officially joined the programme by taking the Scout Oath in a formal, dignified ceremony, proudly wearing their scout badges as a symbol of commitment to the values and responsibilities of scouting. The activity promoted discipline, confidence, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility, instilling leadership qualities and encouraging positive character development among the newly inducted scouts.

Alumni STEAM Safeer Session – Water Essentials and Road Safety Awareness

An interactive STEAM Safeer session, led by two SMB school alumnae now pursuing university studies, focused on water conservation, traffic lights, road signs, and road safety awareness. Students learned about the importance of water in daily life, methods of saving water, and global water scarcity, alongside guidance on road safety rules and safe road-crossing practices, all delivered through engaging, interactive discussion.

— Sports —

SMB Wins Futsal Tournament at Haq Academy

Sixteen SMB school students from Grades 7–10 competed in a three-day futsal tournament at Haq Academy, demonstrating strong teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination. In the final, SMB school won over Bay View High School 4–2, securing a well-earned victory that reflected the team's skill, dedication, and collaborative spirit.

— Mind Sports —

Outstanding Achievement at the 4th National Youth Chess Championship

SMB school participated with great enthusiasm in the 4th National Youth Chess Championship, held at CMA Community Center Karachi under official FIDE regulations, bringing together talented players from 78 schools across Pakistan, including participants from Chitral, Balochistan, Hyderabad, Lahore, and Islamabad. One SMB school student delivered an exceptional performance in the Under-10 Girls category, securing an impressive 2nd position at the national level, a proud testament to the school's commitment to nurturing intellectual sports and talent.

— Celebrations & Field Trips —

Exploring Professions – A Successful Professional Day Activity

A vibrant Professional Day was celebrated in ECE 1 and ECE 2, where parents actively participated and introduced their respective professions to young learners in an interactive, meaningful way. Parents from diverse professional backgrounds, including law, baking, cooking, travel, printing, electrical work, and policing, dressed in their particular attire and shared insights into their daily responsibilities, helping children develop an early understanding of different career pathways.

Zoo Educational Visits – Experiential Learning Activity (ECE to Grade 5)

As part of experiential learning, students from ECE to Grade 5 visited the zoo on different dates throughout February 2026 for observation of animals, birds, their habitats, behaviours, and characteristics. ECE students visited on 6th and 9th February, while a total of 327 students from Grades 1 and 2 visited on 10th and 11th February. The Grade 3 visit was scheduled for 12th February, with 187 students participating. A total of 159 Grade 4 students visited on 13th February, followed by 186 Grade 5 students on 16th February. The visits were designed to build curiosity, promote environmental awareness, and develop empathy for animals across all age groups.

Experiential Science Learning Visit to TDF MagnifiScience Centre – Grades 5 to 8

Selected students from Grades 5 to 8, chosen following a pilot value inculcation programme that recognised regularity, punctuality, and respect, visited the TDF MagnifiScience Centre as part of a two-day educational trip. A total of 100 students took part on the first day and 200 on the second, supervised by around 30 teachers. Students engaged in interactive science exhibits that strengthened their understanding of physics, chemistry, and biology through real-life application, building analytical thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving skills through hands-on exploration.

Art Exhibition – Showcasing Students' Creativity and Talent

The Art Exhibition, held over 13th–14th February across the Art Room, school corridors, school ground, and the hall of the newly constructed building, showcased five years of students' artwork, including pottery, crafts, paintings, patterns, and metamorphosis art projects. Around 50 students participated, presenting a diverse range of creative work, with stalls set up for students to display and sell their pieces to visiting parents and teachers. The exhibition was visited by parents, students, and community members, including Zindagi Trust's President, and received strong media coverage, successfully nurturing creativity and building students' confidence.

Visit to the State Bank of Pakistan for the Japanese Cultural Exhibition

60 students from Grade 7 visited the State Bank of Pakistan to see an educational display on Japanese culture. The aim was to broaden students' awareness of different cultures and global viewpoints. Students also visited the State Bank Museum, gaining insight into the background, purpose, and operations of the State Bank of Pakistan. The visit was both interesting and enriching for the students.

Earth Day Celebration in ECE 1 & 2

Earth Day was enthusiastically observed in ECE I and II to educate young learners about the value of preserving and caring for the environment. Through engaging activities centred on nature, sanitation, and environmental care, the celebration was both entertaining and instructive, inspiring students to adopt good practices that support a healthier, cleaner environment.

— Health —

Polio Vaccination Campaign at SMB School

A polio vaccination campaign conducted at SMB School targeted ECE 1 and ECE 2 students up to five years of age, with a total of 87 students receiving polio drops during the campaign. The activity was supervised by a team from the District Health Department.

Oral Health Awareness and Dental Hygiene Education Session

An oral hygiene awareness session for 98 students of Grades 6 and 7 was delivered by a visiting UK-based consultant dentist, educating students on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and adopting healthy dental care habits, including common dental issues, preventive care, and the significance of regular brushing. The session included a demonstration of correct brushing technique and was highly interactive, enabling students to actively participate and build lasting awareness of dental health.

 World Immunization Week 2026 Awareness

A World Immunization Week 2026 awareness event was organised at SMB school in collaboration with AMAN, EPI Sindh, and Zindagi Trust, held under the global theme “For Every Generation – Vaccines Work” to promote awareness of immunization and preventive healthcare. Distinguished guests, including senior officials from the Sindh Health Department, AMAN, and EPI Sindh, attended the event and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening immunization efforts across Sindh. The event began with a special assembly and student pledge, followed by a formal programme in which students delivered speeches and presented skits on immunization, alongside vibrant paintings, drawings, and interactive awareness activities that made the day educational, engaging, and impactful.

— Parent & Community Engagement —

Parental Awareness Session on Child Safety and LSBE (Grades 3–5)

In February, school management and counsellors conducted an awareness session for parents of Grades 3 to 5 on safe and unsafe touch, consent, and body boundaries. Parents were informed that these topics are taught to students through LSBE classes at school and were encouraged to continue these conversations at home, with guidance on how to respond appropriately, take necessary action, and create a safe environment where children feel comfortable communicating openly. A total of 349 parents attended, and feedback throughout was positive and engaged.

Body Safety and Boundaries Awareness Sessions (Grades 1–5)

A series of age-appropriate awareness sessions on body safety and boundaries was conducted in the AV Room for students of Grades 1 to 5, in different groups. The sessions helped students understand the importance of personal space and body boundaries, including the significance of identifying private body parts and respecting and protecting one's own body, reinforced through inspiring videos, stories, and interactive discussion. The sessions emphasised the importance of speaking up in uncomfortable or unsafe situations and were designed to support the well-being and safety of all children involved.

 

Khatoon-e-Pakistan Government Girls School (KPS)

 

— Student Achievements & Competitions —

APSMUN Participation –

KPS students proudly participated in the Army Public School & College Model United Nations Second Edition, hosted at Army Public School, COD Branch, which spanned over three days and also included a social event. KPS was represented by two delegations comprising a total of 12 students, who engaged in committee sessions and debates that developed public speaking, diplomacy, research, and problem-solving skills. Five KPS school delegates were recognised with awards, including Honourable Mentions and Special Mentions, reflecting the dedication and preparation behind the delegation's performance. Photography and videography were not permitted at the venue, in line with the host institution's policy.

Online Naat & Quran Competition

An Online Naat & Quran Competition, organised under the platform of Awakeners Foundation, brought together students from across Pakistan. Six KPS students participated, representing the school with enthusiasm and dedication. One student secured 3rd position in the Naat Competition, receiving a certificate and cash prize, while three other students also performed exceptionally well throughout the competition, thus showcasing strong religious understanding.

 — Student Activities —

Earth Day Celebration – ECE Section

The Earth Day celebration was successfully conducted across all four sections of ECE I and ECE II, with children dressed in blue and green to represent the Earth. Students explored a globe to learn what the Earth looks like, took part in collage-making activities and created Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle projects using waste materials. They also participated in a clean-up activity during break time, collecting litter from the school premises. The day also included an educational video and storytelling session highlighting the significance of Earth and the importance of protecting it. The celebration was met with great enthusiasm and received positive feedback throughout.

Grade 7 Young Entrepreneur Market

The Grade 7 Young Entrepreneur Market gave students a practical platform to explore real-world business concepts, setting up stalls to showcase a wide variety of creative products and services. Students worked in teams from product development to marketing and sales, applying classroom knowledge to concepts such as cost, profit, and customer satisfaction while building communication, teamwork, and customer interaction skills. The market atmosphere was lively and engaging, with students showing responsibility in handling money and adapting to challenges, leaving them motivated to think creatively and entrepreneurially.

— Health & Safety —

Fire Safety Awareness Session

A comprehensive fire safety awareness session was conducted at KPS by a team of professionals from K-Electric. The session aimed at educating students, teachers, and staff about fire safety measures and strengthening preparedness for emergencies. The programme began with an informative talk during the school assembly on the causes of fire incidents and preventive measures, followed by two detailed sessions guiding participants on how to respond effectively in a fire outbreak. A live demonstration for teachers and staff covered the proper use of fire extinguishers, making the session interactive and hands-on for all attendees, who included teachers, Grade 5–7 students, and support staff.

World Immunization Week Event

The World Immunization Week event was successfully conducted at KPS in collaboration with AMAN, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of vaccines and healthy practices among students, teachers, and parents. The day opened with a morning assembly and student pledge on the importance of vaccination, followed by interactive learning stations including a Vaccination Passport activity, a Myth vs Fact Board, and Vaccine Detective, which made learning engaging while clarifying common misconceptions. A parent engagement session in the auditorium featured student-created video messages, a student skit, and a panel discussion, helping the event achieve strong engagement across the school community.

Looking Ahead

These three months offer a clear picture of what holistic education looks like at both Zindagi Trust Schools: competitions won, exhibitions held, safety and health drives completed, and communities brought closer together. The dedication shown by students, staff, and parents across both schools reflects a shared commitment to growth that extends well beyond the classroom. The momentum built here will be carried forward into the months ahead.
