Building a More Peaceful and Equitable Future

By Allie Renar | Operations & Finance Manager

Our Men as Partners in Change program is currently reaching 40 young men, who are taking part in a wide-ranging curriculum that includes math, leadership, human rights, conflict resolution, and other essential life skills.

This program is rooted in the belief that lasting change requires the participation of everyone in a community. By giving young men the opportunity to strengthen both their academic skills and their understanding of leadership, rights, and peaceful problem-solving, we are helping prepare them to become thoughtful and responsible members of their families and communities.

An especially important part of the program is encouraging participants to recognize the value of women’s autonomy, dignity, and full participation in society. When young men understand the importance of supporting the women and girls in their families and communities, they can become powerful partners in creating healthier, more equitable relationships.

The program also addresses the importance of preventing familial violence and resolving conflict without harm. Through discussions, reflection, and practical lessons, students are learning that strength and leadership are not defined by control or violence, but by respect, responsibility, empathy, and the ability to work through challenges peacefully.

These lessons have the potential to reach far beyond the classroom. As these young men carry new ideas and skills into their homes, friendships, workplaces, and future families, they can help foster communities where women are supported, conflicts are handled constructively, and every person is treated with dignity.

We are grateful to our donors for making this important work possible and for investing in a generation of young men who can help create safer, more peaceful, and more inclusive communities.
