Training Rural Students for Premier IIT colleges

Traditionally, students from rural villages from economically challenged background have not performed well at the IIT-JEE due to lack of mentorship and coaching. Vidya Poshak has partnered with Avanti to provide provide professional coaching for premier IIT colleges in India. Avanti's blended-learning content and technology makes it possible to deliver high-quality affordable coaching even in rural parts of India.

547 Students which is 2.2% qualified across Karnataka and more than 90% are from Big Cities. Only 11% students based out of villages qualify for JEE. 89% are from Cities & Towns. More than half the candidates qualified from just eleven cities. In fact, more than 90% qualified from just about 75 cities. Candidates whose parents are in agriculture have not been able to perform as well as others.


Avanti Learning Centre is an award-winning, fast-growing venture backed education company started by IIT and Harvard University alumni. Avanti is helping high-school students across India study science through peer collaboration - a method developed by Avanti's chief academic advisor, Prof. Eric Mazur, Dean of Applied Physics at Harvard University. Avanti provides students a world-class science and mathematics education to students in class XI and XII.

Long-Term Impact

Based on historical results achieved by Avanti, the following results are expected in the VP Batch (these are conservative estimates as VP students are from State Board). At least 20% of students should clear the JEE Advanced and gain admission into IITs At least 50% of students should clear the JEE Mains and gain admission into NITs 100% (all students) should do well on the CET and gain admission into a top Karnataka engineering colleges.
