Listening and helping

By Daniela Galan | Project Leader

Listening is the key
Listening is the key

Restaurando las Familias Foundation, in partnership with the local government and various district entities, held an important series of community listening and participation sessions, primarily focused on single mothers (female heads of household) in our community, as well as all individuals interested in contributing to the resolution of the issues affecting their surroundings.

This sessions featured the valuable presence of officials from several district departments of the Cartagena de Indias Mayor’s Office, who listened firsthand to the concerns, needs, and proposals shared by the attendees. It was a meaningful and productive space where community members were able to express themselves openly and respectfully, and where our foundation carefully recorded every comment and request.

At Restaurando las Familias Foundation, we are committed not only to empowering single mothers through training in areas that promote self-sufficiency and productivity, but also to actively listening to them, understanding their realities, and working in coordination with the competent institutions to address their needs and find sustainable solutions.

We firmly believe in the power of active listening as a tool for social transformation. The sessions offered us valuable insights and reaffirmed our commitment to building strong connections between the community and the entities responsible for delivering effective responses.

Those were vey fruitful days, and we are already planning more listening sessions to continue building a more just and inclusive future—together.
